Satilla Advocacy Services was formed in 1998 and provides services for sexual assault survivors in Ware, Pierce, and surrounding counties. Staff and volunteers are trained in the legal and medical aspects of rape crisis intervention for survivors of all ages. The mission of the Satilla Advocacy Center is to promote community awareness of sexual assault by providing education to empower community organizations and agencies to build an integrated system that will provide supportive services for victims of sexual assault. The program is funded by Department of Human Resources (Women`s Health), Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, United Way, Children`s Advocacy Centers of Georgia, and the National Children`s Alliance.

Through these grants, our program is able to offer the following services:
  • 24-hour Crisis Line
  • Therapy for survivors and their families
  • Evidence Exams
  • Prevention Education
  • Emergency Assistance
  • Advocacy
  • Court Support

Satilla Advocacy Services has obtained full membership into the Children`s Advocacy Centers of Georgia and the National Children`s Alliance.

The Satilla Advocacy Center`s Program Director is Terry Anderson, RN, SANE, a Nationally Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. The center is also fortunate to provide a staff of volunteer advocates from the community who serve the sexual assault survivors. They participate in 25 hours of classroom and "on the job" training.
