He is a warm, engaging, thoughtful, and a deeply considerate person, a soulful spirit, and a big heart, a musician, and poet. A traditional man of letters who refuses to wear bow ties and round glasses, a graduate of Columbia and Stanford, a singer in a touring Leonard Cohen choir, and influential figure in cultural and political affairs for many decades. Bobby says, “I am consistently in the literary life. I care not a whit for my degrees or pedigrees, only my actions and service.”He is currently excited about his work on Ferlinghetti at 100, a tribute anthology, which we look forward to seeing. his recent libretto in Ladino (a nearly-extinct 15th century Judeo-Spanish) is performed Melinda Becker with Musical Art Quintet and guest performers led by composer Sascha Jacobsen. Inspired by 11th century Ladino poets, the work seeks to honor those creative antecedents.Ah, yes, as to the Keynote, that will be wrob, while our co-pilot will be the very helpful, patient and kind Sharon Scott-Kish, so no talking in the back rows, braving the act, the evening’s MINI will be the well respected Britt Peter, for goodness sake. The LAST WORD will be someone, so it won’t be a volunteer, nor the person upon whom the status devolves by mere chance. First Show: Feature (01:08 – 01:29)The feature presentation, Tommi Avicolli Mecca, Greg Pond, and Ed Mycue were a triple feature celebrating the 50thanniversary of the Stonewall Riot. Each of them presented powerful pieces and it was just stunning. Greg read from his book “Blackened Blue,” Tommi recollected the first gay pride parade he attended, in Philadelphia, 1972, and Ed took us into his personal experience of how society has changed. Second Show : (00:00 – 01:22) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QGK9vusCZY Richard Sanderell, the Last Word, kicked off the second half, – SharonSK began with a quote from Richard Wright before taking us back to a Local Dog Social that went a bit awry – BufordB – RoseB presented an ode to her grandmother, pesimmons, family and thanksgiving – VincentK honored the new Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo with his piece covering biographical perspective on immigration and its history in the US – MINI, Jeff Kaliss, did not make it tonight, we hope all is well, – JulianS empty promises, vacant dreams - was he talking about Snickers – wrob sang lightly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – Mitch happy at being accepted – RichardM presented excerpts from two plays by Wallace Shawn, “Marie and Bruce” as well as “My Dinner with Andre”– Kristyan began his piece with an epigraph by Fernando Possoa and took us back – AntoinetteP a portrait of cubistic considerations, funerals and Aristotle – and The Sanderell closed us out with some wise words and wisdom, oh it was heady stiff but he joyfully carried it, and us, off – yes, it was wild and woolly but very well done! – WOW.Streaming+Video links: short mini length wear in red
