CommunicationUpon admission to the ICU/CCU, we ask that you designate a representative as the spokesperson for your loved one. This person should be the only one to make calls directly to the unit regarding the patient`s condition. Due to the time required to provide intensive medical care to the patient, other family members and friends should contact the delegated representative for updates.
VisitationWe plan family visitation by coordinating the need for family support as well as the need for a workable routine that allows us to best care for the critically ill patient. Visitation is limited to two immediate family members at a time during the following hours: 9 - 10am, 1 - 2pm, 5 - 6pm, and 8 - 9pm. To prevent harm to people who suffer from respiratory difficulties, please do not enter the Critical Care unit if you are wearing scented products such as perfume, lotion, or orther scented personal care products, as they release harmful chemicals that could trigger an allergic reaction.
Once your loved one is stabilized, they may be transfered to the medical/surgical unit or to the Step Down Unit. The SDU is a 10-bed, newly renovated intermediate care unit providing bedside monitoring capabilities for patients making the transition from the Critical Care unit.
